In 2013 Katie, Mandy and Taylor sought out to find an affordable & healthy way to maintain their tans all year long without having to pay expensive salon prices. The three pulled their money together and bought their first spray tan machine. After LOTS of practice, trainings and free tans, friends started asking for spray tans, then friends of friends and friends of friends of friends...... Made in the Shade was born. They now travel across the Wichita and surrounding areas with three machines offering affordable custom spray tans and airbrush make-up.
What is a custom spray tan?
A custom spray tan is a 1-on-1, personalized, spray tanning session with a professional sunless technician. The spray tech, using a high-pressure spray gun, will apply sunless solution to the areas you desire during your scheduled session. When applied, DHA (The active ingredient in Sunless Tanning Solution) reacts with the proteins in the skin’s superficial layer to form a golden brown color. Your skin begins to darken two to three hours after application and reaches its peak color within 9-12 hours. The color will gradually fade through natural exfoliation, just like a tan from the sun. By allowing a professional to apply the spray solution you can ensure a flawless even application. Sunless sessions usually last around 15-30 minutes (this includes drying time) and results can be expected to last 7-10 days.
What is airbrush make-up?
Unlike traditional makeup, airbrushing sprays a fine mist so the makeup blends evenly on the skin. The fine mist of color covers the skin and gives the appearance of a flawless complexion. Your MUA will mix foundation colors for a perfect blend to match your skin tone. Since it’s such a fine mist your true skin tone shows through which makes it look more natural and not so much caked on. It will not transfer onto clothing, In professional photographs it looks amazing! Airbrush makeup is waterproof (bring on those tears!) and it won’t go anywhere until you wash it off. Be sure you don’t wipe away sweat/tears and instead ‘blot’. This will help guarantee your 16 hours of wear.
